Even before the arrival of Windows 11’s first major update, which is (fancifully) titled Windows 11 Update 2022, Microsoft is already preparing a few smaller updates to finally bring tabs to File Explorer and other much-wanted features by the end of the year.
According Latest Windows (opens in a new tab)These updates are called “Moments”, which will introduce features that have been tested for much of 2022. As Windows 11 2022 update is scheduled to be released in late September, “Moment 1” is allegedly just a few weeks later. and File Explorer tabs are the major improvement.
Though, you may already be able to try some of these features on your computer if you are Member of the Windows Insider (opens in a new tab)which allows you to try out other updates Microsoft is working on, users have wanted to see a few improvements to Windows 11 since its debut in October 2021.
Magical moments are coming
It’s strange that Microsoft announced new features for Windows 11 in April, with no indication of when they should be released, and there is still no official announcement. Compare that to Apple, where we already know what’s coming for the Mac with macOS Ventura, like Stage Manager and the redesigned Settings app.
However, Windows users still don’t know when these features will come out. It’s great to see these “instantaneous” updates supposedly so soon after the Windows 11 2022 update, but the casual user has no idea these days that this is the plan.
We hope Microsoft is aware of this and there will be an event or announcement soon to reveal what the Windows 11 roadmap like Moment 1 and 2 will mean and what benefits it will bring to everyone.
