Amazon Studios has announced eight more cast members for the second season of The Rings of Power.
In a press release, Amazon revealed the latest batch of actors signed on to star in recurring roles in the high fantasy series. The octet joins seven other actors recently signed on to star in The Rings of Power season 2, including Sam Hazeldine, who will replace Joseph Mawle as Adar in the next installment of the series.
Dark Materials Season 3 graduate Will Keen, Bridgerton’s Calum Lynch and Game of Thrones’ Kevin Eldon are among the new cast members of the series. Amazon hasn’t revealed what characters these actors will play, but that won’t stop the global Lord of the Rings fanbase from trying to figure out who they could play.
Here’s the full list of the eight actors who joined The Rings of Power in season two:
- William Chubb (The Sandman, Pistol)
- Kevin Eldon (Game of Thrones, Shadow and Bone)
- Will Keen (His Dark Materials, The Crown)
- Selina Lo (Hellraiser, boss level)
- Calum Lynch (Bridgerton, Girls from Derry)
- Stuart Bowman (Versailles, Alex Rider)
- Gavi Singh Chera (Project Lazarus, The Undeclared War)
- Oliver Alvin-Wilson (In Love, The Bay)
Production on the second season of Rings of Power began in mid-October. One of Prime Video’s best shows, however, did not return to New Zealand to film its second season. Instead, work on Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings shifted to the UK, with Bray Film Studios and Bovingdon Airfield being used as primary filming locations. Principal photography could also cover other parts of the UK as well as Europe, with showrunners JD Payne and Patrick McKay stating this during a preview show TechRadar attended in late September.

The second season of the Prime Video series does not yet have a release date, but it is unlikely that it will return to our screens in mid-2024 at the earliest. This is based on the amount of filming needed to complete what are likely to be eight episodes, as well as the lengthy post-production phase of the series after principal photography is complete.
In the meantime, the Rings of Power documentary series is now available to stream on Prime Video, which details the extensive development of Amazon’s high-priced TV series Lord of the Rings. All eight episodes of the first season of The Rings of Power, which has been watched by over 100 million people worldwide since its premiere on September 2, are also available to watch on the Amazon streaming platform.
