If you’re a fan of jaw-dropping action flicks, you’re probably counting down the days until the release of John Wick 4 – and the movie’s latest trailer is sure to pump that excitement up to 11.
Arriving just a few months after some short footage (opens in a new tab) Announcing the return of titular killer Keanu Reeves, the first full-length trailer for John Wick 4 puts the franchise’s signature choreography (and his penchant for bullet massacre) at the forefront. Check it out below:
Have you caught your breath yet? neither do we. Anyway, John Wick 4 is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 24, 2023, so we have a few months to wait until the beloved Hollywood action hero returns to the screens.
As for the plot of the film, John Wick 4 looks like it will be treading on familiar ground. The official synopsis for Lionsgate reads as follows: “John Wick (Keanu Reeves) faces his deadliest foes in the upcoming fourth installment of the series. With the price on his head steadily rising, Wick takes the fight to the global High Table, looking for the most powerful players in the underworld, from New York to Paris to Osaka to Berlin.
In other words, John Wick 4 will dance to the same tune as its predecessors – which in our book isn’t bad at all. Series director Chad Stahelski returns to the helm, while Ian McShane, Laurence Fishburne and Lance Reddick will reprise their roles as Winston, The Bowery King and Charon, respectively.
Newcomers to John Wick 4 are martial arts legends Donnie Yen (Ip Man) and Hiroyuki Sanada (Mortal Kombat), with Bill Skarsgård (It), Shamier Anderson (Invasion) and singer-songwriter Rina Sawayama also joining in the fun.
So it looks like it’s going to be a two-horse race between John Wick 4 and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning: Part One (which boasts an equally chaotic first trailer) for the title of best action movie of 2023.
